Mental Health Month is shining a national spotlight on the growing connection between physical fitness, emotional wellbeing, and community support; and Snap Fitness is proud to be part of the conversation.

In a recent article being featured in USA Today, Minnesota-based Snap Fitness franchise owner Cody Horner shared how fitness helped transform his life and how that experience now shapes the welcoming gym communities he and his wife have built today.

After spending more than 20 years in law enforcement, Horner faced significant mental health challenges while transitioning away from his career. What began as training for a bodybuilding competition eventually became something much more meaningful: a way to improve both his physical and mental wellbeing.

That journey ultimately led Cody and his wife to Snap Fitness, where they now own two locations in Minnesota focused on creating supportive, low-pressure environments where members feel comfortable, encouraged, and connected.

Their story reflects a broader shift happening across the fitness industry. More people are seeking gyms that offer more than workouts alone; they want spaces that help them feel supported mentally, emotionally, and socially as well.

For Snap Fitness franchise owners, that community-driven approach has become a defining part of the member experience. From easing gym anxiety for first-time members to building lasting local relationships, many owners are helping create environments where fitness supports overall wellness.

As Cody shared in the feature:

“You don’t know who’s walking through that door. Maybe we can help them physically and mentally.”

The feature is part of a larger Mental Health Month campaign focused on the role movement, connection, and fitness can play in supporting healthier communities.

We’re honored to see Snap Fitness and one of our franchise owners recognized in a national publication for the positive impact fitness can have beyond the gym floor.
