While cauliflower crust pizza is no longer a newcomer to the healthy eating scene, this alternative pizza crust choice has increased in popularity among vegetarians, vegans, gluten-free and health-conscious consumers. Compared to traditional pizza crust, cauliflower crust generally has fewer calories and carbs and has more fiber and protein. Cauliflower pizza crust can also be a good choice for people with diabetes. However, it's important to note that cauliflower pizza crusts can be higher in fat and cholesterol due to the added eggs and cheese.

You should always check the ingredients and nutritional facts on store-bought cauliflower pizza crusts before purchasing. Some companies add extra flour, starch, or other ingredients to their products, which can make them no longer gluten-free or vegan-friendly.

Like many of our gym members, the nutritional experts at Snap Fitness value high-quality foods that taste good and offer many benefits, making this cauliflower pizza crust recipe a top pick.

This gluten-free cauliflower pizza crust is not only simple to make, but it also results in a crispy and flavorful pizza dough. Even if you are not a cauliflower fan or seeking a healthy alternative to traditional pizza crust, we encourage you to give this recipe a try. Ingredients:
1 small head of cauliflower
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup of mozzarella cheese
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 whole egg

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 230°C. On a cutting board, place a large piece of parchment paper and spray it with nonstick cooking oil or coconut oil.

  2. Wash and thoroughly dry a small head of cauliflower. Cut off the florets—you don’t need the stem, just stick with the florets.

  3. Pulse florets in a food processor for about 30 seconds. You should end up with 125 – 375 grams of cauliflower.

  4. Place the cauliflower in a microwave-safe bowl and cover. Cook for four minutes and then place the cooked cauliflower onto a clean towel and let it cool.

  5. Once the cauliflower is cool enough to handle, wrap it up in the dish towel and squeeze out as much water as possible. This will help get a crispy crust consistency.

  6. Place the squeezed cauliflower into a bowl. Add parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, salt, dried basil, dried oregano, and garlic powder. Lastly, add the egg and mix. Feel free to add a dash of cornmeal if the consistency is watery. This will allow the mixture to thicken.

  7. Once this is mixed, use your hands to form the dough into a crust on your oiled parchment paper. Make sure it is spread evenly on the parchment paper.

  8. The next step is to bake the crust. Simply slide the parchment paper onto a baking sheet and place it in the oven. Bake for 8-11 minutes until it starts to turn golden brown. Remove from the oven to cool.

  9. Once it’s cooled off, you can add your pizza toppings. Once you are done with this, slide the parchment paper with the topped pizza back into the hot oven and cook for another five to seven minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.

Congratulations! You’ve just made a tasty gluten-free cauliflower crust pizza.
