2020-05-20 | By: Snap Fitness

Over the last month and a half Snap Nation members from across the globe took part in our MOVE with Snap Fitness At Home Challenge. They followed exclusive workouts, cooked delicious and health recipes, and focused on their mental wellness. At the end of the challenge participants submitted their success stories for a chance to win $5,000. Congratulations to our Grand Prize Winner, Tom K from Snap Fitness - Fallston!

"Thank you so much to Snap Fitness and Heather Rockhill of Fallston Snap Fitness for making this challenge available to me. IT HAS TRULY CHANGED MY LIFE!!

Back on April 8th 2020 we had been quarantined for over a month now, and at 48 years old I had reached my heaviest and worst weight ever at 270. I had been on heart medicine for AFIB for about 18 months  and my Cholesterol and Triglycerides were really bad.  My Doctor has been warning me to lose the weight that it was not helping my AFIB. I had tried all through March 2020 to get moving and motivated and it just wasn't happening. I would go good for a few days and then fail. Then on April 8th I got the email from Heather Rockhill at Snap Fitness Fallston about the 28 day challenge and something just snapped, NO JOKE !! No pun intended. I joined the challenge and started that next day.

I started using the app right away. I took full advantage of the meals plans and ideas provided and used a lot of the advice. I cut out all sugar ( EVEN ON EASTER !) and alcohol for the next 35 days. I was walking or jogging at least 2 miles per day, after completing the daily Snap workout. I found myself reading recipes and preparing healthy meals. I  completely changed my diet to the point where I was eating a plant based diet  75% of the day. I was eating a spinach salad with onion, chia, flax, veggies 2x a day. I was making a plant based protein shake with Ripple, chia, flax, strawberries, blueberries and peanut butter at least twice a day. I had no cheat meals and no cheat sweets at all. I ate perfect for 35 days straight. I drank at least 1 gallon of water every day since the challenge started. I also tried the fasting , which was just one of the may things I utilized from the guru section of the Snap App. At the end of the Snap 28 Challenge here was my final progress.

I went from 270 Lbs to 248 Lbs- I lost 22 pounds in just 30 days, I have not been 248 in over 10 years.

My push ups went from 10 to 26 in a minute. My plank went from 30 seconds to 1 minute 40 seconds. BUT, the greatest thing that came from this Snap 28 challenge is I have not had a AFIB occurrence since the first week.  It has been over a month and I have not even had even a hint of AFIB, which is amazing because I can not tell you how scary it is when your heart stops for that 1-2 seconds during that beat skip, very freaky feeling that takes your breathe away and then your heart restarts. I can not wait to see my test results when I get my blood work done at the end of the month for the High Cholesterol.

I am actually to the point where I feel comfortable taking my shirt off again!!"
