Kate C. has been working out at her Snap Fitness in Easthampton, MA since 2019. When sharing her Snap Story, she said that she was never extremely athletic growing up, but she started getting into scuba diving 30 years ago. Between climbing up boat ladders, holding her breath for long periods under water and swimming, she quickly realized how much work it is!
When Kate decided she wanted to do intense diving in Indonesia, she knew she wasn’t as active as she needed to be, so she started training to prepare. All the hard work paid off when she finally took her trip! “Indonesia was amazing, it was four climbs up a huge ladder a day,” she said.
Even after the trip, Kate continued to train to scuba dive. As a result, training has become a huge part of her life. Scuba or not, after both her mom and sister were diagnosed with Alzheimer’s—putting her at a 50% chance of getting the disease—she has committed to spending an hour at Snap Fitness 5-6 times per week. Her commitment has helped her physically, and she attributes the community at her gym for helping her stay motivated.
