How to Stay Committed to Fitness All Summer Long

Snap Fitness

It’s been a little over a week since the official beginning of summer, but it’s easy to feel like the sunny season kicked-off more than a month ago. You most likely had a regimented workout routine and killer eating habits earlier in the warmer months, but as the days get hotter and your schedule gets busier it can be tough to stay committed to your fitness. Check out these ideas to keep yourself on track throughout the dog-days of summer!

 Set Tangible Goals

Giving yourself measurable objectives to work towards will refuel your commitment to fitness. For example, you could say you want to lift five more pounds after two weeks, or you hope to run a seven-minute mile by the end of August. Whatever your goals are, make sure you can measure them!

Never Miss a Monday

Step into Monday on the right foot with a solid workout. This will help you recommit to your fitness every week.

Do Something You Enjoy

A workout is always better when you can look forward to it. Doing activities that you appreciate will not only help you maintain your commitment to working out, but it will also motivate you.

Find a Friend

It’s been said before, but it never hurts to say it again: a workout buddy is the best kind of friend! Workout buddies do more than just push you during your training, they also help keep you committed by encouraging you to begin your workout in the first place.

Reward Yourself

Sometimes all you need to stay committed is an extra little treat. It’s okay to reward yourself for working out as long as the prize is a healthy one. If food motivates you, make some chocolate-peanut butter protein bites to have as a tasty snack after a long run. Another reward might be investing in some new workout clothing. Whatever you decide, it should be something that helps you look forward to finishing your workout!

 Drink Plenty of Water

As always, remember to stay hydrated when you aren’t working out. Drinking water will help you stay energized so you can remain focused on your fitness goals.
