5 Tips To Avoid Distraction at the Gym

Distractions at the gym can really make or break your workout. Remember your time at the gym is yours and it’s okay to tune out the world and focus on yourself for a bit. Especially if you’re pressed for time! If you need some extra help staying focused at the gym, keep these tips in mind!
This tip is a no brainer, but we need to say it. Not only do headphones allow you to turn up your music and focus, but it sends a message to the world, “I’m in the zone!” So next time you’re at the gym, turn up the volume and tune out the world.
Have a plan
We can not stress this one enough! When you have a plan you know exactly what you need to do and when you need to do it. There is no standing around and wondering what to do next. Before heading to the gym, take some time to plan your workout and if you need some inspiration check out our blog for some ideas. If all else fails, one of our favorite ways to get in a quick workout is to do a few rounds of MYFIT or a virtual Fitness on Demand class.
Notifications are the BIGGEST distraction when you’re trying to focus! Next time you’re at the gym download your favorite playlist (or one of ours), switch your phone to airplane mode, and say BRB to the world. Your time at the gym is your’s and it’s okay to ignore your texts for an hour or two.
There are always going to be those people who just don’t pick up on the queues, so be honest with them. It’s not rude to tell someone you’re too busy to chat, just be nice about it! Let them know you’re really in the zone right now but are down to chat while your stretching or on the treadmill for your cool down.
Remember Your Goals
Once distraction hits, it is easy to lose your motivation, so remember why you are at the gym. Are you aiming to live a healthier life, training for race, or looking to gain muscle. Make that goal your phone background so when you go to check for those notification or scroll through social media, you remember why you are there.
