Goal Setting and Sacrifices: Building a Healthier You in 2025
As you set your health and fitness goals for 2025, it’s essential to understand that achieving them requires more than just determination—it requires sacrifice.
I can’t stress enough the importance of not only setting goals but also identifying what you’re willing to give up to reach them. This principle applies perfectly to fitness and health.
Start by clearly defining your goal. Be specific: “I want to lose 5 kilograms,” “I want to run a 10KM,” or “I want to gain 5 kilograms of muscle.” Then, next to that goal, write down what you’re willing to sacrifice to make it happen.
For example:
Goal: Lose 5 kilograms.
Sacrifice: Reduce weekend takeout and limit sugary snacks. I’m only allowed desert 2 nights a week.Goal: Run a 10K in under an hour.
Sacrifice: Dedicate three evenings a week to running instead of Netflix. Or watch netflix only on the treadmill whilst training.Goal: Gain 5 kilograms of muscle.
Sacrifice: Wake up 30 minutes earlier to prep high-protein meals. Swap my morning toast for extra protein.
The concept of sacrifice isn’t about deprivation; it’s about prioritisation. To gain something meaningful, you often have to let go of habits, comforts, or routines that don’t align with your new path.
As you plan your fitness journey, ask yourself: What am I willing to trade for a healthier, stronger version of me? When you pair your goals with sacrifices, you create a roadmap for success—one that’s grounded in commitment and accountability.
Let 2025 be the year you make those sacrifices count and transform your health.
I hope you enjoy and get some value from these. I aim to send one every fortnight to add value. Please reply with any comments.
