Transform your workout routine with these gym exercises!

Whether you’re new to working out or you’re simply looking to ways to level up your gym routine, you’ll agree that any physical activity that gets your heart pumping has a number of benefits.

In today’s busy world people who are health conscious are turning to gyms to provide them with the necessary training and exercises to get fit. So it’s no surprise that a gym is the perfect place to find the correct fit for whatever you are looking for be it toning, strength building, stamina building, body sculpting etc.  A good gym workout can not only get you back in shape but it’s great for your muscles and bones; it increases your energy levels, reduces the risk of chronic diseases, helps the skin but also contributes to good mental health.  A good workout can enhance and uplift your mindset and mood instantaneously. A full body gym workout can leave you feeling elated. Ideally such a workout should include push-ups, squats, lunges, pike roll-out, clean and jerk, burpees and deadlift.

You can choose from a variety of gym exercises to suit your requirements i.e. depending upon which part of your body you are trying to tone or shape up, you can choose from or include the following in your routine:-

Strength Training

These are short but intense workouts. By alternating the upper- and lower-body movements you can maintain your heart rate and maximize calorie burn while working every muscle in your body.  It is recommended to use a weight that is challenging enough to fatigue your muscles by the end of the set. While doing strength training make sure to include squats; deadlift; hip thrust; pull-ups, bent over row, overhead press and press ups. A full body work should ideally include the working and strengthening of chest, shoulders, back, biceps, triceps, arms and legs muscles.

Cardio Workout

Cardio workout at gyms is one of those exercises that play a vital role on your ‘heart health’. Cardio is broken up into two parts: Steady-state cardio and intervals. While you may choose any cardio equipment like rower, bike, kettlebells, cycling, elliptical or treadmill just bear in mind that an effective gym workout needs to have a cardio workout.

Legs for Days

It’s easy to get caught up in the numerous upper body exercises and forget about training our legs. And while many try to get away with, this can not only through your entire body off balance but also have long term repercussions. Just like your other workouts, it’s important that you set aside separate time for leg day workout. Leg workout improves the balance between the size of their upper and lower body. So go on and work those quads, hamstrings and calves.

Ab Workout

Flat stomach workout is perhaps the one area where every one of us wants to focus on. Engage in a cardio, jog or walk briskly on the treadmill, high intensity training effectively reduces belly fat, strength training such as bench presses, overhead presses, lunges, squats, biceps curls and triceps dips can also help in getting that flat stomach you’ve always dreamed of. Make bicycle crunches part of your Ab workout. You could also work with the Ab workout machine.  And don’t forget the abdominal-strengthening exercises!

Don’t forget the chest workout!

Whatever you do, do not skip out on your gym chest workout. Because the chest muscles are huge, and contribute towards many movements, you’ll need more than just a handful of exercises to build your chest from every angle. You can try out barbell bench press, Flat Bench dumbbell bench press, low-incline barbell bench press, machine decline press, seated machine chest press or incline dumbbell press.

Shoulders need love too

Certain muscles are easier to bulk up than others. One common problem area is the shoulders. To include a shoulder workout at your gym would be a good way to help you strengthen those muscles for lifting. Here are some shoulder exercises to help you get started. Barbell standing press, seated dumbbell press-seated Arnold press and lateral raise and bent over the reverse fly.
