About two years ago, I was nearly 300 pounds. I was diagnosed with diabetes, fatty liver disease, high cholesterol, and hypertension. It was the worst I had ever felt. My physician wanted me to begin taking insulin immediately, but I begged for some time to try and straighten out my lifestyle before being medicated.
I tried cleaning up my diet but that gave me limited results, so my wife suggested I try exercising. I began the process of looking for a gym. I looked at several and I was intimidated by most and was not treated with much respect at others.
Then I saw the Snap Fitness in North Dallas. The atmosphere was friendly, the facility was great, and the staff and owner/trainer Fred Watts was equally supportive and enthusiastic about me getting started. The first few sessions, and the days afterwards, were difficult to say the least. My first session with Fred was an evaluation. I really thought I would die before the hour was up. I could barely bench press 100 pounds. I could not do a single sit-up and only managed about six modified push-ups.
Flash forward to today. I have lost almost five inches around my mid section and I am 75 pounds lighter. My workout bench press is now 130 pounds and I have benched over 200 pounds! I feel better than I have felt in years. My old clothes? I had to give them away. It feels good to buy new clothes because yours are too big, rather than the other way around. Thank you Snap Fitness and Fred Watts — you have changed my life.
