I started my journey in 2009 at 38 years old weighing 210lbs. I had put my family first, having my first child at 17 years old. I was in a car accident in 2009, which is the first time I can remember seeing my scale weight and feeling total disgust with myself. I promised my family and myself that as soon as the doctor released me I would begin to focus on my health. I quit smoking after 20+ years, started walking on my lunch hours, taking Zumba classes, and researched everything possible about eating clean and healthy. For Christmas that year I bought myself my first Biggest Loser cookbooks and started changing all meals for my family.
In 2012 I discovered weight lifting through a program called Venus Index, set up my own home gym and fell in love with lifting. In March my youngest moved out and I found it difficult coming home to an empty house most evenings. I was thrilled to find a new Snap Fitness opening three blocks from my house and immediately joined! I’ve been a gym junkie ever since, so much so I started working as the gyms social media-marketing manager! What more could I ask for? Today I am 164lbs. and I’m still chipping away at fat loss. Going from someone who hid from cameras and never wore shirts with less than a 3/4 sleeve to living in tank tops and shorts and taking “selfies” daily! WOW, thank you #SnapNation!
