Lynn Merrill
Lynn and her husband, CJ, have lived in Roxborough Park for over ten years. She enjoys volunteering as a naturalist and hiking and biking the many trails at the State Park. She has been with Snap since the grand opening in December 2007, and loves meeting and greeting members during her morning shifts. Lynn also works as a personal trainer and takes pride in every member she trains. You will look forward to seeing Lynn each weekday morning at the gym. She will make you feel right at home.
Dustin Morfey
Dustin is originally from Madison, Wisconsin and moved to Colorado with his wife in 2009. On top of working out and staying fit, he likes to snowboard, mountain bike, camp and hike with his dogs. He is very health conscious as he was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2007, and have since made a full recovery. During that time he had to have both of his hips replaced. The experience furthered his interest in physical fitness and showed him what the body is capable of doing. For him, working out is a fun, “natural high."
Alisa Kim
Alisa enjoys staying healthy and fit, and love almost any type of physical activity, including dancing, hiking, walking, playing sports, and doing intense boot camp-style training. She also enjoys reading and making jewelry. In addition to graduating from Arapahoe Community College's human performance/exercise health science program December 2011, she holds a Bachelor's degree in Brain, Behavior and Cognitive Science from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She thinks it is fascinating to see a body move and to know how that movement affects the body. Exercise is a type of medicine that everyone can participate in and enjoy. Seeing the glow of health and fitness about a person gives her great satisfaction.
Misty Rauscher
Misty enjoys working out and training for local 10k and half-marathon races, scrapbooking, and spending time with her husband and three children, Lily, Emery and Brickson. Misty has a bachelor's degree in human services and does private case management for multiple sclerosis patients. Getting to know all of the great members, and absorbing energy from being in the gym, is what Misty likes best about working at Snap. You will enjoy her smile and friendly, easy-going personality.

Jennifer Buntrock
"I feel better about the way I look, and I have more energy and I feel stronger!"
Jennifer and her husband Bill joined Snap Fitness in Roxborough in February 2011. Jennifer's weight had begun to really bother her. She had recently gone clothes shopping and had to buy a size 18 in pants and XXL tops. "I couldn't believe it!" says Jennifer, who hoped to lose a whopping 50 pounds and become more fit and healthy with her new gym membership.
Since then Jennifer has nearly reached her goals, with only four pounds left to go. She exercises nearly six days a week, performing cardio every day and working her upper and lower body on alternate days. She decreased her caloric intake by cutting back on portion sizes. Last summer Jennifer started working with certified personal trainer Lynn Merrill. "Lynn helped me diversify my workouts, work different muscle groups and get closer to my goals," says Jennifer.
Jennifer enjoys using all of the equipment at Snap Fitness in Roxborough, particularly the Expresso bikes. "They allow me to get a great workout and I always feel like I have accomplished something when I am done with my ride," she says. Jennifer also likes the way Snap has a community feel to it. "I always feel comfortable and welcome when I come in to work out," she adds.
Elisabeth Calderon
"I've lost four inches around my waist and am almost two dress sizes smaller!"
In October 2010, Elisabeth wanted to get into a fitness routine. Then she received an email about boot camp and decided it was time to lose weight and shape up. Since joining boot camp, she has achieved great results. She is slimmer, stronger and can handle her hectic schedule of teaching third graders and pursing her Master's Degree in Education. She can even run a mile in just under 10 minutes!
"I like working out at Snap because not only is it only 5 minutes from home but it has a welcoming atmosphere with an array of machines and a friendly staff," says Elisabeth, who especially enjoys working with Dustin during boot camp. "He is extremely patient and encouraging, but doesn't take no for an answer unless he knows you really can't do it! Boot camp is a great way to learn new moves you haven't tried or been afraid to try."
Dottie Clapp
"I don't think I could have reached my health and fitness goals without Snap Fitness!"
Dottie joined Snap Fitness in December 2010 because she wanted to get back into a regular fitness routine, lose weight and strengthen and tone her muscles. She has achieved those goals and more. In fact, last Spring, Dottie won Snap's weight loss challenge, losing an amazing 9 percent of her body weight! "Being in the challenge really motivated me to work even harder than I might have otherwise," she says.
Dottie also regularly participates in boot camp and other small group classes. She takes the classes because she wants to learn more about strength training and because having the class dates and times on her calendar is a great incentive to get to the gym. "Dustin knows how to adjust routines to each person's individual fitness level," says Dottie. "He definitely pushes me to work harder than I probably would just on my own."
Dottie says achieving her fitness goals has greatly improved her life. "I definitely have stronger muscles, my clothes fit better and my self-confidence has vastly improved!" she says. "What I like best about Snap is the 24/7 access and the atmosphere. I can usually get on the machines that I want, and I really like that the club offers boot camp and other small group classes. I can work out nearly every day of the week and not get bored."
Paul Cicero
"I've lost weight and can keep up with my boys now!"
Paul joined Snap in January 2010 to give him an edge in a weight loss competition at work. At first his fitness goals were focused on weight loss and muscle toning. Then he began running and building his stamina. Since then, Paul has achieved those goals and more. He feels better, sleeps better and can do things he never thought he could do, including completing his first 5K and 10K races.
"I love Snap Fitness in Roxborough. Every member is very friendly and courteous," says Paul, who enjoys the variety of equipment at Snap, especially the Expresso bikes. "I don't get bored as things are always moving and I have to steer and adjust gears. With the bikes now posting to my Facebook account, I have friends and family looking out for my posts to make sure I am working out instead of slacking off."
Tom Ulibarri
Last June Tom joined Snap Fitness in Eaton, Colorado and lost 25 pounds over a four-month period by exercising and cutting out junk food. In October he transferred to the Roxborough location and started working with fit pro Chad Shelton. Since then he lost another 25 pounds and looks and feels amazing. “I really like the environment at Snap Fitness. It’s friendly and comfortable and I never feel intimidated or overwhelmed,” says Tom. “I know everyone who works here and see the same people regularly. I recently asked another member to spot me on the bench and he was really willing to help. It was cool.”
Tom credits Chad for helping him get in shape. “It’s been a whole lifestyle change for me,” says Tom. “Chad told me how many calories I needed based on my activity level and how many grams of protein, carbs and fats I should be getting each day.” The pair even went grocery shopping together so Chad could coach Tom on how to read nutrition labels and make healthy food choices. “Learning how to eat properly and make sure I get enough of the right calories has helped me increase my metabolism, burn fat and lose more weight,” says Tom, who keeps track of his daily food intake at FitDay.com.
In addition to training one-on-one with Chad, Tom has participated in Chad’s boot camps and hard core classes. “Chad is a big motivator and can push me harder than I can push myself,” says Tom. Since working with Chad, Tom has significantly reduced his body fat, improved his strength in every area and become more flexible. His Snap FitScore* went from 28 (a rating of average) to 21 (a rating of good). When Tom first started running, he could ran a mile in 18 minutes; now he can run a mile in 8:30. Chad and Tom ran a 10k together this past March and plan to run more races together this summer.
Becoming healthy and fit has not only helped Tom look and feel great but it’s given his confidence a big boost. He recently landed a job as a manager trainee for Big 5 Sporting Goods, in Littleton. “Even though I’ve lost 50 pounds, I am still self-conscious and feel like a big guy, but I’m working on changing the way I see myself,” says Tom, who is also working on building a new wardrobe as he went from a 44- to a 34-inch waist. “I never thought I’d be the kind of person who works out six days a week and runs races. I’m happy that I’m sticking with it and look forward to making more progress and getting what I want out of life.”
Callie Skokos
Callie Skokos joined Snap Fitness in Roxborough last September and works out nearly every weekday morning. After completing her routine, she heads to her job as a marketing communications manager for MX Logic. “I love Snap because it’s so friendly, clean and comfortable. I never feel self-conscious or rushed while I’m there,” says Callie, mom to a 12-year-old boy and 6-year-old twins. Callie especially loves running on the Woodway treadmill because it feels solid and stable and doesn’t jar her joints.
In October 2007, Callie, 41, ran the Denver Marathon. Despite freezing weather, she completed the race in 3:48. That time qualified her for the 2007 Boston Marathon, which she ran in 3:40, and that put her in the top twelfth percentile in her age group. Currently she is training to run the Boston Marathon again in April. To achieve her goal time of 3:30, she follows Hal Higdon’s “Boston Bound” training schedule, a rigorous regime of various inclines, speeds and distances.
To increase her muscular and core strength, Callie has recently added weight training to her work outs. “The difference has been incredible. I feel less fatigued when I run fast. I also feel more stable and in control,” she says. “I was never a fast runner but now when I do a 10K on the treadmill I can consistently run at 7:40 per mile, which is under my race pace. The ladies at the gym have given me lots of pointers on strength training. The community at Snap is just awesome.”
Callie loves to run but it hasn’t always been easy due to the unexplained stomach pain she suffered for years. Finally, two years ago, she was diagnosed with Celiac disease, a genetic, multi-symptom disorder activated by eating gluten—proteins found in wheat, rye and barley. Since eliminating gluten from her diet, she feels much better and more motivated to run than ever. “I used to run because I liked it and thought it might help me feel better. Now running is a joy. When I run I feel so good—almost like I am flying.”

Marty McGee
Roxborough resident Marty McGee joined Snap Fitness in March 2008 when he decided to make fitness a part of his everyday lifestyle. He likes Snap because he can workout near his home, go home and shower and then get on with his day. “Snap is so close that I can’t make excuses not to go,” he says. “Now I always look forward to going to the gym. Working out makes me feel good the rest of the day. Joining Snap has been a great experience. Every week I am making progress.” *FitScore is a rating based on a calculation involving 5 fitness factors, including body composition, muscle strength and endurance.
Progress indeed. In March 2008, Marty’s Snap FitScore* was 8—which is a rating of poor; now it is a 30, which is a rating of good. He has reduced his body fat and decreased his resting heart rate from 86 to 66. Starting at a bench press of 30 pounds, he can now bench press his bodyweight of 200 pounds. Marty’s back no longer hurts thanks to his core work and he sleeps better at night. His next goal is to improve his FitScore by another 3 points, which is a rating of excellent. “I really like this level of fitness and want to keep going,” he says.
Marty says he owes a big thank you to Snap personal trainer Lynn Merrill for helping him achieve his amazing results. “I really appreciate Lynn’s professional advice in setting up my workout program and updating it periodically to keep my muscles stimulated,” says Marty. “When it comes to personal fitness, she knows what she is doing and always has something to say to keep me motivated and spur me on. I was doing okay on my own but I don’t think I would have had nearly the results I have had without her professional help.”
