A bit about me!

Living in Las Vegas for the last 20 years, I have see this town grow.  Growing up in a city where image is everything, living in Las Vegas has always been a challenge. I was not a skinny teen and that made it harder to fit in.

In the years that followed, I became extremely depressed and overweight due to continuing traumatic events in my life. Time passed and weight gained. My health was deteriorating and I had reached a weight of 265lbs.  I decided to do something about it.

At the age of 27, I had high blood pressure and asthma. I was not able to exercise due to my legs and feet would swell and always in pain. I tried eating different and diet pills, but they didn't work as much as needed.

 I decided that I didn't want to be on pain medication and breathing treatments for the rest of my life. When speaking to my doctor, there was only one option. In 2004 I decided to have Gastric Bypass surgery.

With my new life and the weight coming off, I started to work out more and became strict with my foods.  First I started on the treadmill. It was one of the hardest things to work on. After a year in I was still intimidated by the gym, but mainly the weight training machines.  I was always thinking someone was watching me and thinking why is she in this gym.  Boy was I wrong.

I met someone that helped me with the equipment at the gym and how they were used properly. I started doing my own research about what would be the best workout equipment for me. That is when I fell in love with fitness. My weight dropped even more and I was toning up quickly. I lost over 100lbs and my muscle was just toning up.  My friends started to notice that my body was changing once again.  I started showing my friends what I knew and showed them how to use the machines. I decided to start creating training programs for them. They loved it. They loved how I educated them and how it made them feel.

That is when it hit me. If Weight Loss Surgery patients knew how to use the equipment at a gym, maybe I can help them. That is when I decided to become a personal trainer and enrolled in the Professional Fitness Institute, (PFI).  I earned my Certification and I am the happiest I have ever been in my life and I love my job.
