Member of the Month

 I spent the entire New Year’s Day watching TV which included a full season of last year’s Biggest Loser, when I realized the great irony. What was I doing? I have a big vacation planned for June in Glacier National Park, and I was nowhere near ready for the trip. I had previously lost 50 pounds in the past year, but had gained 7 pounds of it back. Determined to kick things up a notch (turned out to be about 20 notches) I checked into the 24/7 neighborhood gym, SNAP Fitness.

 For me, the biggest obstacles were time and intimidation. I thought of myself as gym-challenged, I had no idea how to use the machines or how much weight to use or how many reps to do to get results without injuring myself. Tyson gave me some information on personal training, and I was immediately interested. I started working with Sarah twice per week early in January, and quickly found there is so much more to fitness than knowing how to use a few machines! I was introduced to a world of giant balls, hand weights, and bands, as well as machines.

 Sarah has pushed me to work harder than I ever have in my entire life-truly-but she does it with a great smile and lots of encouragement. I had no idea I was capable, mentally or physically, to be challenged in this way, and would not have done it alone. She keeps things interesting and motivating, and even made arrangements for me to visit another SNAP in Minnesota so that I could continue to take care of myself while taking care of a family member. Everyone at SNAP is friendly, encouraging, and helpful.

 My strength and endurance have increased so much! In almost three months I have lost over 22 pounds on the scale, 23.5 pounds of fat, and have gained muscle! My body fat has decreased by 7.5% and I have lost almost 20 inches around. I work very hard, but the benefits have been tremendous and so worth it! I have become physically and emotionally stronger, and have never been more proud of my accomplishments! Thank you, Sarah, and the SNAP fitness team
