Hi, my name is Jarod Harris.  I, like Grant, went through the Exercise Science Program at COCC.  I finished the Associate of Science Degree in June, 2011, and went on to pass the American College of Sports Medicine Health Fitness Specialist Exam later that month. I am now pursuing the Associate of Applied Science degree in the Massage Therapy Program, with my eyes set on being licensed early in 2013.

One of my greatest passions is for martial arts.  I currently practice and teach at Sortor Bushido Kai Karate here in Bend. In July, 2011, I achieved the rank of 1st Degree Brown Belt, and have been a member of the Bushido Kai dojo since shortly after they opened in Bend in 2005.  Although not the only type of martial art I ever practiced or competed in, the Bushido Kai system has had a heavy influence on my abilities as a martial artist, as a student, and as  an instructor.  I have also taught self defense and kickboxing classes for individuals and small groups. 

I believe in functional fitness and I like to blend martial arts in to workouts for its promotion of focus, agility, flexibility, and full body conditioning.  I stand firmly on the idea of keeping things fun, varied, and challenging, while working on your goals and needs.

The Human Body is a fascinating and highly adaptive mechanism, and with it we can do amazing things!  Our bodies require movement for health, in fact many health professionals are now prescribing "exercise as medicine".  The benefits of maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle backed by a nutritious diet are numerous, and effects of diet and exercise on your health can be felt almost immediately.  My job is to help you tap into those benefits. My mission is to help you identify your strengths and weaknesses, and determine a plan of attack.  I will provide you with motivation and guidance for improving your health and fitness, making changing your lifestyle easier and less stressful.. I am here to assist and support you every step of the way on the path to a new, healthier, happier you!

Boot Camp 101

Express Fitness

Looking to get in shape and feel great, but don't have a lot of time for the gym?

With the Express Fitness program from Snap Fitness, you'll achieve the results you want through personalized instruction and shorter sessions to help you get in, get motivated and get out in a flash!

Start on your own with a quick warm up. Then, your Fit Pro will take you through a strength training routine specifically developed to reach your precise fitness goals. Next you'll get your heart pumping with a specific cardio routine designed for maximum calorie burning. Finally, take a few minutes to cool down and stretch and you're on your way in less than an hour.

Most Express Fitness packages consist of two sessions per week for 12 weeks, giving you flexibility in your exercise schedule.
