Flu Season and the Gym


The flu has been in the news quite a bit lately.  We all come to the gym to be healthy and the last thing we want is to pick up or pass germs at the gym.  While investigating the best way to prevent spreading germs at the gym we learned that it takes a partnership to be successful.

What are we doing?

1.      Recently installed in the gym are new bottles of disinfectant to clean the machines with.  The disinfectant is the same that we use on the tanning bed and is designed to kill H1N1, MRSA and other viruses and bacteria.  The old disinfectant killed the germs as well, but it will be easier to take the bottles to the machines.  We just ask that you do not spray the electronic panels on the Cardio Equipment.  Instead, spray your towel and wipe the panels.

2.      Wiping the machines down and cleaning the gym with disinfectant on a regular basis during staffed hours.

What can you do?

1.      Wash your hands (or use the hand sanitizer) before you start exercising.

2.      Wipe down the equipment when you are done.  Especially where your hands have been.

3.      Wash your hands (or use the hand sanitizer) when you are finished exercising.

If we all do our part, we can keep the flu out of the gym this flu season!
