At Snap Fitness, we work around your schedule. We're open 24 hours, 7 days a week, so you can work out when it's convenient for you. The Family Who Works Out Together, Wins Together
When Rick and Deb K.’s teenage son and daughter expressed interest in the Snap Shape Up Challenge, they were eager to join them. And they gained more than just a victory.
Joining the challenge out of sheer fun, Deb thought working out as a family was a great opportunity to check in with their teenage kids. But their quality family time quickly turned into a competition.
After working late and missing a couple of workouts, Rick woke up hours earlier than the rest of the family and snuck off to the gym weekend mornings to catch up. His extra workouts paid off. Not only did he win the challenge among his family, he came in first place at their club in Woodland, Wash.
More than just winning the challenge, the family has gained a new outlook on their lifestyle and setting family priorities.
“The challenge affected all areas of our life,” said Deb. “We’ve gained more motivation to do healthy activities together; it jumpstarted a new lifestyle for our family.”
During the challenge, they began cooking meals from “The Biggest Loser Cookbook” and now the kids, Jamie and Aaron, are cooking healthy meals for the entire family.
Deb also explained how important it is that her children continue this healthy and positive lifestyle into their adulthood which is why they continue to work out as a family.
“It’s important to spend family time together and it gives us something in common to talk about,” said Deb. “We put it on the calendar.”
While each of them has their own long-terms goals, the family is working towards a bigger one—climbing Mount Rainier as a family for Rick’s sixtieth birthday.
“We still have a few years, but I think we can do it,” said Deb.
